This chair was designed to be a perfect mix of beauty and comfort. Each one begins as a single board of carefully chosen Quartersawn Black Cherry Hardwood. This type of wood is a rich red with flecks of gold and will age to be a deep, dark mahogany color. All the parts are joined with stopped mortise and tenon joinery that provides the strongest connection. The seat and back are made with Black Walnut Hardwood and the seat cushion is supported by European Hemp Webbing for extra comfort.
All work is done at Slippery Elm Woodworks in West Kingston, RI. Cushions were made by Sew Many Things in East Greenwich, RI. Hardwood for the chair was sourced from New Hampshire.
